Forgiveness
Am almost finished reading a great book on forgiveness. I HIGHLY recommend it to you. It is called “Amish Grace: How Forgiveness Transended Tragedy.” By Donald Kraybill.  It takes a look at the Amish School Shootings at Nickel Mines, PA a few years back and the forgiveness they extended. It also takes an indepth look at Forgiveness. It sure challenges me to extend forgiveness more often and more quickly.
It also has lots of good stories of forgiveness that would be great to file for sermons.

Hey Martin! Thanks for writing about this book. I appreciate all the books that you’ve written about. Most of them I’ve not heard of before. So, your writing has expanded my knowledge of what’s out there and how helpful/useful it is.
I’m curious. . . how much time do you spend in the average week reading? From what you write, it seems you spend a fair amount of time reading. Perhaps you’re a fairly fast reader, too.
Anyway, I appreciate what you’ve shared from your readings!
Thanks!!
Jeff
Hey Jeff,
To answer your questions about reading. I am a fairly fast reader, but not as fast as I could be due to the desire to glean stories and illustrations from the books I read.
I try to spend about an hour every day reading both blogs that I find helpful and books. And every couple of weeks, I take a whole day to read. This particular book was one of three that I read while on vacation the end of August. We were camping in the mountains and I get up earlier than everyone else, so that was my time to read.
Also, I have several books going at a time… I am kinda ADD and get bored with a book after a while or I see a new one that I’d like to read and so, I start on it.
I get my sugestions from blogs that I value or perusing the local bookstore shelf. My “To Read” shelf is quite full and I wish I had more time to read….but can’t spend all my time doing that!
Thanks for the reply, Martin, and explanation about your reading schedule.
I’m on vacation and brought a book that I wouldn’t have chosen to read. It’s on my book list for the next D.Min. class. It was written by Phil Jackson (NBA coach) and its called, “Sacred Hoops”. In my reading so far, he points out the importance of a maturing spirituality in developing teamwork on his basketball teams (and how that can transfer into other teamwork environments . I’ll try to write more later after I finish the book.
